BEYOND THE CLASSROOM, UNLOCKING THE INTERNATIONAL WORKSPACE

Ciao! I am Li-Ju Feng, AKA Ruby. I am from Taiwan and currently studying Communication for Business, Media and Culture at Cattolica. When I am not studying, I am usually hunting down good food or new spots around town. Marlà in Porta Romana is my absolute favorite cafe so far. I have also been learning Italian, and while it is definitely a workout for my brain, nothing beats that feeling when you actually understand what people are saying on the metro.

This past spring and summer, I joined the Harboring Prospects 4 Future project alongside Cattolica’s Marketing team. As part of the student board, my main focus was helping shape and build website content for international programs.

Day to day, I was creating and reviewing program pages, organizing study plans, and migrating everything onto the website using CMS. On top of the hands-on work, we got to attend specialized training run by international advertising agencies on topics like digital campaigns and GEO (Generative Engine Optimization). My favorite part was definitely the interactive brainstorming because working through real strategies together and getting instant feedback from industry pros was super fun.

The biggest shift for me was jumping into a fully Italian work environment. While my background helped me handle the technical tasks smoothly, the language barrier was a real hurdle. To keep up, I made sure to stay prepared. I kept translation tools open and used meeting transcription software so I could re-read complex discussions and training details afterward.

If you are planning a similar path, my top piece of advice is to always come prepared. People are warm and happy to help, but having your own system ready makes a world of difference.

Personal Slogan: Let every challenge turn into a good story.
